Job Summary:
Work under the direction of the Charge Nurse. Provide daily direct resident care that reflects the Nursing Home’s philosophy and standards of care.
Several shifts available:
- 8 hour shift
- Evening shift
- Night shift
Qualifications:
- Current Nurse Aide Certificate
- Certified for First Aid and CPR
- Experience in geriatrics or related health care
- Knowledge of Infection Control Procedures
- Understanding Universal Precautions
- High School Graduate preferred
- At least one (1) year of experience as a CNA preferred
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Promote individualized, dignified care of the residents while respecting their rights.
- Demonstrate the ability to recognize abnormal signs and symptoms of common diseases and conditions which indicate that a licensed nurse should be notified.
- Accurately measure and record routine vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, and record the same on designated documents.
- Document work/activities in the resident’s medical file such as Patient Procedure Record.
- Provide personal care of a resident such as bathing and oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, assist with eating and hydration including feeding, caring for the skin, ROM, bowel and bladder training, turning and positioning, transferring and ambulating.
- Provide privacy and confidentiality.
- Maintain a clean resident environment.
- Ensure resident personal care items are labeled and properly stored in designated areas.
- Demonstrate the knowledge of and the ability to perform basic emergency and safety measures.
- Demonstrate ability to care for a resident when death is imminent.
- Ensure the residents are free from abuse, neglect or mistreatment, and report any concerns of improper care to Supervisors.
- Support and follow the policies and procedures of the facility and the Nursing Department.
- Demonstrate the ability to work as a team member.
- Perform additional duties/responsibilities as assigned, within the scope of practice, in an accurate and timely manner.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to read, write and understand English.
- Visual and hearing ability to sufficiently comprehend written and verbal communication.
- The ability to perform physical activities/tasks that may require heavy lifting, excessive bending and standing.
- The ability to work in a high-stress area.
Organizational Relationships:
Reports to the Charge Nurse, Staffing Coordinator, ADON and DON
